  • Instant Messaging making it easier for worker to find business colleagues via an integrated corporate directory and initiate a text chat with multiple co-workers simultaneously.
  • "Geopresence" displays physical locations anywhere in the world in places like hospitals, hotels or companies so employees can quickly identify a co-worker's physical location.
  • A Visual Voicemail feature that displays voicemails on their mobile device with date/time information on the mobile device. Users can also hear messages as they are being left in real-time and access a call in progress.

Avaya IP Office 8.0 also offers new "serverless" collaboration capabilities with an integrated unified communications module, eliminating the need for an external server in IP Office implementations. New desktop plug-ins also a more convenient way for workers to communicate by enabling federated presence with Google Talk and IP Office contacts and allowing phone calls via a Salesforce.com page.

Jeff Stark, a technology director for Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, commented on his impressions about the new features in a statement, saying, "The mobility advancements in Avaya IP Office 8.0 are the most comprehensive we've seen, and will be essential in helping us run a location as large as the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, where you never know where anyone is."

Stark continued, "Avaya IP Office makes it much more cost-effective for us to set up anything from a temporary office to a call center for clients at the DECC. We can estimate savings of up to fifty percent just by bringing in Avaya IP Office, not to mention the flexibility and ease-of-setup the system delivers."
