For those anticipating the new release of the Avaya IP Office, the wait is over. Avaya announced that its flagship communications solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMBs), Avaya IP Office 6.0, now offers new unified communications (UC) capabilities that are designed to deliver an enhanced user experience to employees in any location.
The new capabilities delivered in this latest Avaya solution include advanced collaboration tools using voice, instant messaging, presence and video to drive a more productive and flexible workforce. Avaya IP Office is positioned now as an easier and more affordable solution for businesses with less than 20 employees to install and use.
With these enhancements, the smallest of companies gain the ability to cost-effectively implement the advanced communications and customer service functions of larger systems. Avaya now touts that the Avaya IP Office 6.0 makes unified communications as much as 40 percent more affordable for small businesses.
'With Avaya IP Office 6.0 in place, small businesses don't have to sacrifice easy, intuitive operation in order to get the enhanced communications features of large enterprises,' said Anthony Bartolo, general manager, Small and Medium Enterprise Communications , in a statement.
'Our latest version provides SMBs with all of the next generation collaboration tools necessary for competing more effectively today against peers and larger competitors -- and for thriving as the economy recovers.'
The SMB Market
Market trends today highlight optimism for the future of SMBs, highlighting the activity in seeking new paths to success. Most SMBs expect revenue growth in 2010, while 78 percent claim the old way of doing business will not work. With its user-based SMB solutions designed for teleworkers, mobile workers and office workers, Avaya addresses these market trends.
The new Avaya IP Office solution adds fully-integrated instant messaging with embedded voice calling and presence. The audio conferencing feature allows up to 64 parties on a single call and the 6.0 platform introduces video collaboration through a new IP Office Video Softphone application.
In doubling the support capacity in a Multi-Site Network to 1,000 users, SMBs in a wide-area network can extend the benefits of seamless communications, including extension dialing and conferencing, to everyone across the business. Avaya IP Office also enhances business continuity beyond telephony operation to now include voice messaging, auto attendant and other capabilities.
Cost-Effective UC for the 'Less than 20' Market
International provider of market intelligence for information technology, IDC , highlighted that companies with less than 20 employees today account for more than 90 percent of small businesses throughout the world. A new combination card within the Avaya IP Office provides a single card to support digital, analog and IP devices.
'Now, the smallest businesses can gain access to the rich capabilities that were previously only available to larger companies,' said Tom Roles, president, NACR, an Avaya business partner. 'And with IP Office 6.0, the savings in money and time are formidable.
For example, a 90 percent price reduction in voicemail, combined with the new combination card, can make a real difference for companies with less than 20 employees. And we estimate that the programming, set-up and training time provided to this segment can now be cut by 50 percent -- to just half a day. This makes it much easier for business partners to deploy,' Roles added.
